We are back with the 5th Annual Emilie Mondor Memorial Run for Women Only sponsored by RunnersWeb.com, and referred to as "Emilie's Run".
The amazing success of Emilie's Run has given us the confidence that the run has a future among women of all ages and stages. What another amazing run it was last year - once again the fastest women's 5Km in Canada with 40 women finishing in under 20 minutes.
But is not just a fast women's run, hundreds more of you made it a run (or walk) for all women, regardless of age or stage. This is a true celebration of women's health, fitness, running, and walking!
We invite you to participate in "Emilie's Run 2010". Fast or not so fast, you will enjoy the experience! Bring along your family, and friends too. The kids 11 and under (boys and girls) can participate, in the Wylie Ryan Aviation Museum 1Km Kids Run, which takes place right after your race - so you can jog along with them. Those who aren't running, can serve at the aid stations, greet you at the Finish Line, or just carry your sweat suit and cheer you on.
We have great prizes too - lots of cash for the really fast of you (thanks to RunnersWeb.com), medals for everyone who finishes, and category winners - and super draw prizes for the lucky.

honourary race director - ken parker
RunnersWeb.com was founded in 1996 by Ken Parker, who has strong Ottawa and sports roots. Ken was the founder and former President & CEO of the successful Sirius Consulting Group Inc. of Ottawa. He is also the founder and coach of the Ottawa Athletic Club Racing Team and a founding coach of the Ottawa Lions Track & Field Club. He is a former marathoner and co-founder/former race director of Ottawa's National Capital Marathon, as well as many other Ottawa road races including the 1981 Avon International Marathon.
Ken was named Volunteer of the Year at the ACT Sports Awards in 2002, and received the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal for community service in 2003. Ken was inducted , as a builder in athletics, into the Ottawa Sports Hall of Fame on October 19, 2005.
what is runnersweb.com
The RunnersWeb.com is an internet portal to the world of running - including athletics (track and field), road running, triathlon, and adventure racing. It provides access to the information desired by participants of all age levels and abilities in these sports, as well as timely news and features on a global scale, 7 days per week, 365 days per year with several updates daily. Its audience is the global community of runners, triathletes, and multi-sport athletes.
RunnersWeb.com has grown into a small Ottawa based business concern under Ken's direction, and in 2005 it sponsored the OAC Racing Team, the OAC Gatineau Triathlon, the OAC Corporate Relay, the Dave Scott Triathlon Clinic, the Canadian Iron Distance Triathlon, and the See You In Athens fund which supports Canada's Olympians.
why a women's only race
By providing an Ottawa women's only race, the RunnersWeb.com hopes to encourage first time women runners to participate, as well as to provide an opportunity for competitive women to lead a race, set the pace, and being the overall winner. These elements are usually not present in races with men.
With the RunnerWeb.com, as our generous sponsor, we are hoping to build on the more than 200 women who attended the inaugural Women's Only run last year and make Emilie's Run a real happening in the Eastern Ontario/Western Quebec region. Check this out for some interesting background on "women's only races".

There is no extra charge for a team entry. Teams consist of a maximum of 5 team members with the first three finishers on each team to count for the team score. All team members must enter the race as individuals. If you are on a team, you must register your team before the race start at Race Kit Pick Up.

You must

- complete the "Team Entry Form" by adding team members race places (from the official posted results), and
- submit the "Team Entry Form" to the Race Director immediately after the results are posted, and before the award ceremony.
The team with the lowest score wins. Ties will be broken by the higher placing 3rd place team member. Participants may only be a member of one team.

post
race refreshments
Enjoy the fruit, bagels, water, and Gatorade after the run at the finish line.
post race massage therapy
Unfortunately we have had to cancel this option as plans have fallen through for our massage service.
championchip
timing
We use Sportstats ChampionChip timing at all Somersault races.
This timing system requires that all participants
wear a ChampionChip Bracelet on their ankle (Anklet) during
the race. This bracelet contains a computer chip that
allows you to be timed. No chip = no time.
You are responsible for
obtaining your ChampionChip Bracelet on race morning
from the timing people at the Sportstats Tent near
the Finish Line. Do this at least 30 minutes
before your race - earlier is better! Races
will not be held up waiting for those who forgot their
bracelet.
You must return your ChampionChip
Bracelet immediately after you cross
the finish line. You are responsible for the
cost if it is not returned - and it is expensive.
your
results (Age is as
of December 31, 2010)
Your personal results will be posted very soon after
you finish the race. Please check the results
as soon as you can, to be sure they are accurate.
If there are discrepancies, go to the Sportstats
van near the Finish Line and provide them with the
information you think is correct.
Results will
only adjusted after race day, if it is our error.
Have the results people make changes before you leave
the event site, if changes need to be made - thanks! Results will be posted at http://www.somersault.ca/resultsrun.htm within 24 hours of the race and are available at www.RunnersWeb.com.
