somersault promotions
Somersault Promotions organizes the Somersault Triathlon, Duathlon, Kayak Triathlon, Run, and Swim Series as well as the Wylie Ryan Kids' Series of events. We host and organize these events for the enjoyment of our clients, who are the participants in our events. Participants are our first priority. The Somersault mission statement can be viewed at http://www.somersault.ca/mission.htm
charity policy
Although Somersault events are organized with the participant foremost in mind, they also offer interesting fundraising and promotional opportunities for community charities, not-for-profit groups, and youth programs that are willing to make a commitment to this participant event experience.
We offer a multi-charity concept called the "Somersault FUNdraiser Program", which allows such organizations to participate in and benefit from Somersault events, . The FUNdraiser program allows a recognized community charity, club, program, school, or organization to develop a fundraising pledge program within a Somersault event. Preference is given to groups that share our interest in the active health, physical activity, recreation, and sport needs of children and their families; keys to a healthy Canadian society.
Organizations who participate in the Somersault FUNdraiser Program are expected to contribute to the event in some way (e.g. providing volunteers), in return for the privilege of using the event to promote and raise funds for their cause. The FUNdraiser Program is open to more than one charity per event, however we reserve the right to limit the number of charities involved in any one event.
We are proud to be contributing to the healthy physical activity needs of Ottawa and Eastern Ontario families through Somersault events, and the Somersault FUNdraiser Program.
somersault 'event' charities
Our multi-charity model, allows us to involve more than one charity in each of our events. However, one charity, or community youth club, may be selected to be the "official charity of the event". This selection provides a bit more profile for that organization, but also invovles a stronger commitment to the event itself. This heightened commitment may be in providing volunteers, attracting a larger number of participants, or other similar contribution.
We were proud to promote and support the good work of many charities and community organizations in 2009.
In 2009, "Charity of the Event" status was given to these charities:
- Place d'Orleans - Cumberland-Orleans Community Resource Centre
- Early Bird - Bytown Storm Triathlon Team
- Ottawa Riverkeeper - Ottawa Riverkeeper
- Emilie's Run - Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario Foundation
- Smiths Falls - RedHawks Athletic Program
- Graham Beasley - Lanark Community Health Services
- Carleton Place Heritage - CP & District Memorial Hospital Foundation
- National Capital - Camp Quality

the volunteers and services program
You provide a minimum of 10 volunteers who will agree to volunteer at an event and we make a donation to your organization for providing them - or you provide one or more of our events with a required service that we normally pay for and we pay your organization that fee. Fees vary depending on the nature and scope of the volunteer force or the service provided. Please contact us at info@somersault.ca if you would like to discuss your group's involvement.
