Somersault Awards and Recognition Night - November 13
The last event of the 2008 Somersault year, is fast approaching - The Somersault Awards and Recognition Night.
This social evening allows us to congratulate the Champions Challenge (CC) award recipients. It also allows us to thank and recognize the many, many people and organizations who are responsible for the 2008 Somersault Series, and without whom it wouldn’t have happened. In addition, other participants, friends, and supporters are welcome.
You can check out the evening agenda at
http://www.somersault.ca/2008Invitation.pdf
and RSVP and purchase a ticket at
https://secure.eventsonline.ca/events/eol_somersault_rsvp/
Champions Challenge Champions – A Special Invitation
We would like to invite the top 3 finishers in each Champions Challenge Ranking Category to the Awards Night. In order to qualify for you must have completed 3 races (2 for kayakers). Please check the rankings at
http://www.somersault.ca/championships.htm to see if you qualify.
If you do, we would like the pleasure of your company, and a guest if you wish, on November 13 at the Lonestar Restaurant off St. Laurent for an evening with running, triathlon, and duathlon friends. If you wish to join us, please go to
https://secure.eventsonline.ca/events/eol_somersault_rsvp/
and RSVP and purchase your ticket.
We also ask everyone to check your rankings right away, to be sure that you have been awarded the proper points for your performances this year. Things such as using different forms or spellings of your name, or entering weight instead of age categories from event to event can result in some of your performances being ranked separately. If you find corrections necessary, please email terry@somersault.ca by November 10/08 so we can prepare for the award presentations.
CC Rankings can be found at
http://www.somersault.ca/championships.htm.
2009 Web Site launch
We will launch the 2009 Somersault Series’ web site on November 13 at the Awards and Recognition Night. Awards’ Night attendees will be able to make an extra saving, but only by entering on the computers set up at the Lonestar that night.
We do invite everyone to enter 2009 Somersaults events early – because you can save lots of hard earned cash. Entries will be accepted online beginning November 14. Take advantage of the early season entry fee discounts by going to www.somersault.ca, and entering.
Somersault Web Site Renovation
The Somersault Web Site is undergoing revisions and edits until November 13. Because of this, the information on the site may not be accurate during this period. We are working on the live site. Your patience during this 2 week period is appreciated.
2009 Somersault Entry Fees and Early Season Discounts
Somersault entry fees will not increase in 2009. And if you enter early you can save as much as 20% off the regular entry fee until December 31 (20%). Further discounts are available after that – up to January 31 (15%), and up to March 15 (10%).
Somersault Student Discount
Remember too, that students attending school in 2009, who were born in 1985 or later, receive a 40% discount on event entry fees throughout the year – even on the above early season discounts. In 2009 that discount also applies to the late fees paid at Race Kit Pick Up.
Somersault Event Gift Certificates
Christmas isn’t far away, so remember that you can purchase gift certificates for yourself or someone else at those same great discounts up to December 25. You can visit www.somersault.ca and purchase an entry fee gift for the regular participant, or for someone who is planning their first. It would make a super Christmas present.
Somersault Junior Series 2009
We are proud to introduce the Somersault Junior Program in 2009. This program is designed to encourage those 12 years and older to participate in Somersault events along with the adults. Juniors will participate in 2 year age categories beginning at 13 & under, and going up to 18-19. Athletes in these categories will feel comfortable in Somersault events, and are automatically ranked in the Junior Champions Challenge.
New Somersault Events in 2009
All of last year’s events are back, plus a few new ones. We will have much more news on these new events by our November 13 Web Site launch, and in our next newsletter, but here is a sneak peek.
The Winterman Marathon, Marathon relays, Half Marathon, 10Km, 5Km and 2Km – February 21-22
Sydenham - Greater Kingston Tri/Du/Run – July 5
Last Chance Trail Run – September 27
Thank You
Christine, I, Austin, Michael, and the entire Somersault Race Crew would like to thank all of you for your wonderful support and participation in 2008. We truly enjoy hosting these events, cheering you towards your personal goals, and getting a chance to meet and get to know some of you personally. We continue to be amazed at your personal achievements, and find it rewarding and gratifying to be in some small way, part of your efforts.
Best wishes,
Terry, Christine, Austin, Michael, and the Race Crew
