Hi Somersault event participants!

The 2009 Somersault event year has come to a close, and what a year it has been! We want to thank all 10, 697 of you who participated and we congratulate you on your personal performance(s).  We hope that Somersault events met most of your expectations. We know we have much to work on at our end of things, but promise to work hard to improve. We would love to have you participate again in 2010.

2009 Somersault Awards & Appreciation Reception

All that remains in 2009 is the Somersault Awards & Appreciation Reception. The event will be held on November 12, at the CHIMO Hotel. This event is one to which everyone is invited, especially Champions Challenge award recipients, Clubs of the Event representatives, event officials, volunteers, race directors, and race crew members. It is an evening to chat with friends and co-participants, to fete the 2009 Champions Challenge award recipients, and to thank the many, many people and organizations who contributed to our 2009 event successes.

The First Three Men and Women in each of the Tri, Du, Run, Swim, and Canoe/Kayak categories, and Each Age and Weight Category Winner in the Tri, Du and Run rankings will receive a recognition award at the Reception – if you attend. Those not attending the Reception, and who completed at least three events in one of the ranking categories, will be able to download a certificate from the Champions Challenge web site following the Awards Reception evening.

You can learn more about the evening by going to http://www.somersault.ca/2009AwardsAppreciation.pdf. We hope you can make it and bring a friend.

Champions Challenge Rankings – Check Yours!

If you are interested in the Champions Challenge rankings for 2009, please go to http://www.somersault.ca/championships.htm to verify that all your 2009 performances are acknowledged and that there are no errors in your ranking. Click on 2009 Rankings and look for your particular discipline at the bottom of the spread sheet.  Email me at terry@somersault.ca if changes are required.

You must have participated in a minimum of 2 events in the same discipline to be eligible for an award – and you must confirm any corrections and your attendance at the Reception by Monday November 9th, if you wish to be recognized at the Awards Reception.

2010 Somersault Event Program – A 25% Discount One Awards Reception Only Entry Offer

The exciting 2010 Somersault Event Program will be up and running – and accepting entries - on November 13th. Check it out then at www.somersault.ca

However those attending the Awards & Appreciation Reception on November 12th, will be able to enter any or all Somersault events that night on our computers set up at the Awards & Appreciation Reception at a 25% discount.

You will be able to enter one event, or use the multiple event packages to enter more than one at the Reception, thanks to our friends at Eventsonline. We encourage you to consider the savings and utilize this opportunity to finalize your 2010 Somersault event plans.

Remember, you can access these for your 2009 race(s).

Charities and Community Organizations

With your participation and support, the Somersault Series was able to promote and raise funds for more than 30 organizations in 2009.  It is estimated conservatively that more than $60000 was raised for worthwhile causes and organizations from your collective participation in Somersault events.  Congratulations to all of you – participants, supporters, sponsors, and volunteers - for helping make this happen.

Thanks

There are simply too many of you to thank individually here, but we at Somersault know only too well how many people, organizations, and companies it takes to make the program come to life. A quick count tells us that more than 1100 people contributed during this year at one or more of the 17 Somersault events. Thanks to each and every one of you, you made a difference in the lives of many, from start to finish.

The Winterman Cometh – February 1, 2010

If you are tough enough, come and join us and our partner Search & Rescue Global 1 on Sunday February 21, for the 2nd Annual Winterman Marathon, Marathon Relays, Half Marathon, 10Km, 5Km, and 3Km Runs at the Canadian War Museum. Almost 900 participants had a (winter) ball at the inaugural run last February, and we anticipate more than 1500 for year two.  There is no other event like it – you can even bring friends and participate in the relay!  Check it out and enter at www.wintermanmarathon.ca

See you at the Awards Reception or in 2010 – take care!
